How to use the Watchlists

How to use the Watchlists

In this article, we'll be looking at the main features of the Watchlists and how you can interact with them.

We've put together a short video that walks through all of the features you'll need to get started, which we highly recommend following along with as you begin to get accustomed to using the Watchlists.

How do I get to my Watchlists?

You can access your Watchlists from your Platform Homepage by clicking on the Charts icon in the left-hand sidebar.

The Watchlist area will be on the left-hand side of the charts by default.

How do I use my Watchlists?

We'll first want to expand the column by clicking the 'Starter Folder' icon at the top (the blue button in the screenshot above). This will allow you to see all of the Watchlist-related features.

The button you just clicked on to expand the Watchlist will tell you which Watchlist you're currently looking at, and change colour accordingly. To start with you'll only have your 'Starter Folder', but you'll be able to create a new one shortly.

On the left, you'll see three tabs: Personal, Experts and House.

  • Personal
Here you'll see any Watchlists that you have personally created.

  • Experts
This is where you'll find any Expert Watchlists that you have access to; i.e. Guy's Big Weekly Watchlist. You can also view these according to which Membership they're included under.

  • House
Under 'House' Watchlists you'll be able to see any of our in-house Watchlists that you have access to that aren't specific to a Guru - i.e. the 'Sector ETFs'

If you want to look for a specific Watchlist without having to go into each tab, you can type it into the 'Search Watchlist' bar. Click on the result and this will take you directly to that Watchlist.

How do I create a Watchlist?

To create your own Watchlist, go the the Personal tab and click 'My Watchlists +'. A window will pop up where we'll start setting up our brand new Watchlist.

Give your Watchlist a name and then choose a color and icon to help you identify it.

Now, you can begin adding stocks to your Watchlist:
  • Add Stocks Individually
To add stocks to your Watchlist individually, type the individual stock ticker into the 'Add stock' search bar and click on the one you want to add.

  • Bulk Add
Here you can enter multiple tickers at once, as long as they are separated by a space or comma. For example: you could put 'AAPL,AMD,INTC' or 'AAPL AMD INTC'. Click 'Validate' and this will check the stock tickers entered and put them into a list. To ensure that your stocks are added, be sure to click 'Add' in the bottom-right.

Once you've given your Watchlist a name and added your stocks, click 'Create' and your Watchlist will be saved. If you want to edit your Watchlist, click on the three dots next to it and select 'Edit Watchlist'.

If you ever need to delete a stock from your Watchlist, you can click on the box next to the stock ticker and press the Delete icon that appears on the Chart.

What are the other Watchlist features?

Above the stock list, you'll see six buttons (and a search bar) that will allow you to control the Watchlist you're currently looking at.

From left-to-right, these are:

    1. Pop-out
Pop out the Watchlist so that you can view the stocks in a separate windows

    2. Refresh
This will refresh the entire Chart area

    3. Table View
Use this to switch between Table View (Watchlist above Chart) and Column View (default)

    4. Bulk Add
Use the '+' icon here to add multiple stocks to this Watchlist

    5. Edit Watchlist
Clicking the pencil and notepad icon will allow you to edit your Watchlist

    6. Download Watchlist
This will download all of the stocks in the Watchlist as either a Text file or a CSV file

That covers the majority of the Watchlist features to help you get up and running. Remember that you can always reference this article and the tutorial video at any time, and if you'd like a more in-depth look at the Watchlists and features you can find them in the Watchlist User Guide here.
